Mission Statement

As a dedicated psilocybin facilitator and therapist, my mission is to empower individuals on their transformative journeys of self-discovery, healing, and growth. Guided by a deep commitment to inclusivity and a social justice lens, I offer a safe and culturally sensitive space where clients from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and those with disabilities, can explore their inner world and navigate life's challenges.

I honor both the scientific and clinical structure while holding space for the intuitive wisdom of the body and spirit. Through a fusion of evidence-based practices and a deeply compassionate approach, I aim to help clients transcend the limitations of the mind, promoting healing that encompasses the entire being.

My goal is to facilitate healing beyond immediate solutions, equipping clients with lifelong skills and tools. By building trust, transparency, and empowering clients to drive their healing process, I foster an environment where individuals can heal, thrive, and create lasting, positive change.

Together, we embark on a journey towards improved mental well-being, resilience, and a deeper understanding of oneself and one's emotions. My mission is to empower you to embrace a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Vision Statement

Inclusivity

Inclusivity is my cornerstone.

I envision a practice where healing, whether by traditional or psilocybin therapy, is universally accessible, offering a culturally sensitive haven for all individuals to mend, thrive, and grow.

Whole Person Focused

I see a future where the holistic approach is central. My practice strives to be a pioneer in integrating evidence-based and holistic methods, guiding individuals toward profound, balanced well-being.

Positive Change

Positive change is my compass. I envision a practice that empowers individuals to heal, grow, and create lasting, positive change within themselves, their relationships, and their communities.

2023 Psilocybin Facilitator
Social Equity Plan

Introduction:

In accordance with Oregon Health Authority (OHA) Psilocybin rules (Section 333-333-4020), this Social Equity Plan outlines how I, Jessica L Morgenthaler, as a sole owner and employee of Nurturing Navigation LLC, integrate diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion principles into my Certified Psilocybin Facilitator practice. I am dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, can access the benefits of psilocybin therapy. This plan details the steps I'm taking to make my services inclusive and accessible.

Acknowledgement of Land:

I humbly recognize that I stand on the ancestral lands of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Chinook, Tualatin Kalapuya, Molalla, and other Indigenous nations. In gratitude for indigenous wisdom and the resiliency to hold on to sacred traditions like the use of earth medicine, I draw inspiration from their practices to infuse reverence for rituals and healing into my own practice. I honor Indigenous sovereignty and pledge to contribute to the enduring strength of Native communities.

Acknowledgement of Racism:

I acknowledge the deeply rooted impact of racism on individuals, communities, and societies. Racism has caused immeasurable harm, perpetuating systemic inequalities and injustices that have spanned generations. I recognize that these injustices continue to manifest in various forms, affecting access to opportunities, resources, and well-being for people of color. I commit to confronting and dismantling these systems of oppression, listening to the voices and experiences of those affected, and working collectively towards a more just and equitable future for all.

Acknowledgement of Marginalized Communities:

I acknowledge the profound impact experienced by marginalized communities who have endured historical and ongoing injustices. Discrimination and systemic barriers have adversely affected various groups including, but not limited to: LGBTQIA+ individuals, people who have visible and invisible disabilities, immigrants, refugees, and certain religions. These communities have shown resilience in the face of adversity and have contributed immeasurably to our shared society.

I stand in solidarity with them as an accomplice, committed to amplifying their voices, dismantling biases and prejudices, to create a world where all individuals are valued, respected, and given equal opportunities.

Plan: Use language in my website that is inclusive to the marginalized identities listed above.

  • Measurement: Have a published website by December 31, 2023, that has a statement of inclusivity.

    • Tracking: I will have a third party proofread the website annually and offer suggestions if marginalized identities are not clearly supported.

Commitment to Addressing Power Dynamics:

At Nurturing Navigation, I recognize the potential for power dynamics in psilocybin facilitation, acknowledging potential imbalances related, but not limited to race, ability, and culture. With sensitivity, transparency, and respect, I navigate these dynamics by valuing individual agency and creating an equitable environment where clients' voices and experiences are embraced. Through ongoing self-reflection, education, and dialogue, I forge collaborative relationships with clients that empower their healing process. This commitment is communicated through my informed consent process.

Plan: I will provide educational materials to all clients about power dynamics and the potential effects on the therapeutic relationship.

Commitment to Inclusivity, Equal Access, and Cultural Consciousness:

At Nurturing Navigation, I am committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity, equal access, and cultural consciousness. Despite being required to work in the state-mandated service centers, I prioritize accessibility for everyone, particularly marginalized communities. This involves sharing public transportation options, maintaining trauma-informed spaces, exhibiting cultural sensitivity, and establishing a feedback channel for clients (and potential clients) to share their experiences and suggestions.

Plan: I will encourage those with marginalized identities to receive services from me.

  • Measurement 1: I will provide public transportation information to service center locations to all clients.

    • Tracking: On my public website, I will outline the city public transportation options and contact information by December 31, 2023.

Together, we strive for a future where healing is universally attainable.

Plan: Establish a sliding scale fee structure available to anyone who is eligible for any financial assistance benefits (eg. OHP/SNAP, Medicaid, Utility, Medical, Educational, etc.).

  • Measurement: I will provide 20% discount upon receipt of any financial assistance eligibility confirmation starting January 1, 2024. This information will be provided to every client with my fee structure and they will self-identify eligibility on intake paperwork. This will be done for 100% of qualifying clients who identify at intake.

    • Tracking: I will place the eligibility confirmation in their documentation. The discount will be reflected on their invoice.

    • Performance: I will collate the data annually at the end of the calendar year to show the metrics around demographics for who receives the discount.

Commitment to Ethical Standards:

At Nurturing Navigation, I am dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethics, not only within my own practice but also in supporting the ethical practices of others. I recognize the profound responsibility that comes with guiding individuals on their transformative journeys, and I pledge to approach this role with integrity, empathy, and a dedicated focus on their well-being. Through continuous reflection, education, and dialogue, my facilitation is rooted in the utmost of ethical considerations. I aim to inspire ethical principles among fellow facilitators, fostering a community of trust, safety, and growth.
